When to Book a Colonoscopy
You may need a colonoscopy if you experience:
Rectal bleeding
Unexplained abdominal pain

Positive faecal occult blood test (FOBT)

What to Expect
Colonoscopy is a day procedure, typically done under sedation. The colon is examined using a thin, flexible tube with a camera. If abnormalities are found, they can often be treated during the same procedure.
Preparation:
- You’ll follow a clear fluids diet the day before
- A bowel cleanse will be required to ensure visibility
Recovery:
- You’ll need someone to drive you home after
- Minor bloating or gas is common, but most patients feel fine the next day
